Humanity Program: Clean Water, Just Rp 3.000,00 a Month

Yustina (35), who lives in Malabae village in Bengkayang district in West Kalimantan province, no longer needs to walk for one kilometer to collect water. “Now I can get clean water 24 hours a day right inside my house,” said the mother of three children. Water is now available abundantly for all the 74 families in Malabae village following the completion of a three kilometer long water piping project built jointly by the local community and Wahana Visi Indonesia. Besides the water project at the village, World Vision also supported similar community-based water projects in four other villages in Bengkayang. The water projects benefit some 3000 people and help reduce water-borne diseases in the area.

Sponsors of Wahana Visi Indonesia visited Singkawang, one of Wahana Visi Indonesia projects in West Kalimantan. On this occasion, they looked closely the works of Wahana Visi Indonesia in Bengkayang district. They visited Sijangkung and Kita Setia kindergartens and 21 Sibaju primary school. This facilities can be built because of good cooperation between community members and Wahana Visi Indonesia-Singkawang. In this occasion, they also met and greeted with the important figures in Sijangkung, Sagatani, and Sibaju villages.
